On Saturday, August 21, 2021, Ingalls Shipbuilding celebrated the christening of its 12th San Antonio (LPD 17) class of amphibious transport dock Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, attendance at the ceremony was limited for safety.
Christening a ship is a revered tradition in the United States Navy, and while COVID-19 precautions will be in place, a christening at Ingalls Shipbuilding is still an event with no comparison.
