Ingalls shipbuilders develop and produce technologically advanced, highly capable warships for the U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Marine Corps and international and commercial customers, producing nearly 70 percent of the Navy surface fleet of warships. Ingalls is the builder-of-record for both the Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) guided missile destroyers and America-class (LHA 6) large deck amphibious ships; and the sole builder of the Navy San Antonio-class (LPD 17) amphibious assault ships and Legend class National Security Cutters for the Coast Guard.

Ingalls Shipbuilding offers several pipelines for workforce development and training opportunities. Local high school students participate in our Talent Development Labs and Shipbuilder Academy programs while enrolled in a high school career technical education curriculum. Through community partnerships, Ingalls offers no-cost workforce training to help individuals become career-ready.

The Ingalls Apprentice School is recognized as the backbone of a well-trained workforce. Every effort is made to provide each apprentice with opportunities to learn all the phases of a selected craft. This is done by job rotation, a system that allows the apprentice to perform in the various job assignments within the particular craft.
